Attendance:
  • Attendance is taken at 9:05 am.  If your child arrives later than that, please make sure he/she stops in the office before coming to the classroom.  Your child will receive a tardy slip that day.
  • Please report any absences to the front office by calling the main school number: 847-398-4275 or enter absence here:  https://www.sd25.org/Page/1451
  • Homework can be sent to the office after your child is absent more than 1 day.
  • Homework make-up is equivalent to the amount of days a child is absent (I am flexible on this - contact me if an issue arises).

Snacks:
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables only

Class Contract and Marble Jar:
  • At the beginning of the year, students brainstorm ways to be safe, respectful, and responsible within our classroom. Together, we vote on the most important rules/expectations to follow.  By following these expectations, students earn marbles for the class marble jar.  Once the marble jar is filled, we will have a class celebration to honor all of our hard work! If a student does not follow the classroom expectations, a think sheet or reflection form may be sent home.

Biblionasium Reading Log
  • By Sunday night, your child is responsible for entering his/her reading minutes for the week.  These reading logs will count toward your child's reading grade.  Each student has a unique username and password.
  • Grading scale for reading minutes:
            100 or more minutes/week - 10 points            80-99 minutes/week - 9  points
            60-79 minutes/week - 8 points
            40-59 minutes/week - 7 points
            20-39 minutes/week - 6 points
            1-19 minutes/week - 5 points

            0 minutes/week - 0 points

Star Student
  • Students will be randomly chosen each week. A poster and bag will be sent home the weekend before your child's star student week. Your child will present his/her poster and any special items from home to the class during the week.
